ZIF:

Zero Insertion Force. A type of socket for microprocessors that facilitates their insertion and removal using a small lever.

ZIP:

File containing information compressed using the program.

ZIPEAR:

It refers to the action of compressing a group of files into a single file, which are usually also compressed using WINZIP. This way, they occupy the least amount of space possible on the computer and reduce the time it takes to be transmitted over the Internet. The final result is a single file with a “.zip” extension, which in order to be able to read we have to reverse the process, that is, unzip it using the same programs. Among the most used programs of this type is WinZIP.

ZMODEM:

Protocol used to transfer files from a server to a computer connected via modem, which is mainly used to retrieve files from a BBS.

ZETTABYTE:

A unit of measurement of storage capacity that is equivalent to 270 bytes, or approximately 1021(1,000,000,000.0 00,000,000,000) bytes. A zettabyte is equal to 1024 ex bytes.
