JAVA:

Programming language, developed by Sun Microsystem, which is also used to include small programs (applets) in Web pages, which are activated when the page is loaded. They allow more interaction to be introduced in Web pages.

JAVASCRIPT:

Complementary language to Java that is used to insert “scripts” with various functionalities into web pages. They are part of the dynamic HTML language; they are programs that are fully inserted into web pages and run on client computers. They allow interactivity to be added to the web.

JOYSTICK:

Input peripheral designed specifically for video games. There are many types, but the most commonly used is a kind of lever with buttons.

JPG / JPEG:

Joint Photographics Experts. Format for compressing and storing bitmap images. Widely used on the Internet. They can support palettes of 16 million colors (24 bits). They offer better quality than GIFs.

JUMPER:

Small piece of plastic and metal that is inserted into computer boards or devices to set a particular configuration option.

KEYWORD DENSITY:

Keyword density refers to the division of the total number of words in the text by the number of times a particular keyword appears. Depending on the percentages and the search engine algorithms, the sites are ranked in the search engines.

KEEP:

The action of saving files that are in memory to the hard disk. Some programs save data automatically, while others require the user to save the data before ending the work session.

KEYWORD:

Search key or keyword. Essential when searching for information in a search engine or when we want to register a page in one of them.

KBPS:

Kilobits per second. A unit of measurement that is commonly used to measure the speed of transmission over a telecommunications line, such as the speed of a cable modem.

KDE:

It is an international community that develops free software. It produces a desktop environment, a multitude of applications, and development infrastructure for various operating systems such as GNU/Linux, Mac OS X, Windows, etc. ... The mascot of the community is a small dragon called Konqi.

KERBEROS:

Authentication service developed in the Athena project by MIT (Massachusetts Institute of Technology). It provides a centralized authentication server, whose function is to authenticate users against servers and servers against users. Kerberos uses symmetric encryption (also called conventional encryption), a method in which encryption and decryption are performed using a single key.

KERMIT:

A program that provides an interactive environment where files are transferred from a server to a computer connected via dial-up access and is used primarily to retrieve files from a BBS.

KERNEL:

The essential center of an operating system, the core, provides basic services for all parts of the operating system. The kernel contrasts with the “shell,” the outer part of the operating system that interacts with the user through commands.

KEYBOARD:

KEY:

A series of previously agreed-upon signs that serve as a key or formula to transmit secret or private messages.

KILOBIT:

It is used to measure the traffic of information through a digital channel, and is expressed in units of Kilobits per second (Kbit/s or Kbps). This unit represents the quantity of bits that are transferred from one point to another in one second.

KILOBYTE:

Unit of measurement equivalent to 1024 (two to the power of 10) bytes. It is frequently used to refer to the storage capacity or size of a file.

KEYBOARD:

Basic input peripheral used to give instructions and data to the computer to which it is connected. They have two clearly differentiated parts, one for text and another for entering or operating numerical data. There are different keyboard layouts, so that they can be used in various languages. The standard type of English keyboard is known as QWERTY. The extended keyboard is the one that has 101 or 102 keys.
